Kinky and sexually charged, I Want Your Sex is an erotic dark comedy.
Naïve twenty-three-year-old Elliot (Cooper Hoffman) almost can’t believe the fact that he has just landed his first job after finishing university.
It is working as an assistant to renowned, sexually provocative artist Erika Tracy (Olivia Wilde).
Apart from anything else, it will mean that Elliot can finally pay his half of the rent to his best friend and roommate, the equally sensitive Apple (Chase Sui Wonders).
A week after starting at the art studio, Erika – fourteen and a half years his senior – blatantly hits on him.

Then, purely on her terms, they start a hot and heavy casual sexual relationship.
Elliot can’t believe his luck because his bookish girlfriend, Minerva (Charli XCX) isn’t exactly into him.
Even though Erika points out that this is purely about sex, Elliot quickly becomes heavily invested. He is living out his fantasy.
So it is that, like a lap dog, Elliot comes a runnin’ every time Tracy wants him or needs him. And boy, does she teach him.
Inevitably though, things start unravelling and, before you know it, Elliot finds himself in police custody.
That happens after a bruised and bloodied Elliot, dressed in sexually compromising attire, discovers Erika floating face down and naked in her pool.
In fact, that is the opening scene in the movie, to which the plot returns much later in the piece.
Also in the picture is a fellow assistant at the studio, sexually promiscuous gay man Zap (Mason Gooding), whom Elliot befriends.

Another mainstay is Erika’s standoffish business manager Vikktor (Daveed Diggs), who doesn’t warm to Elliot.
Co-written (with Karley Sciortino) by director Gregg Araki has taken the politically incorrect and amped it up to warp speed.
There are some cracking lines in the scripting, and the actors are certainly up to the challenge of realising them with alacrity and polish.
Dressed to look hot, hot, hot, Olivia Wilde is the femme fatale extraordinaire as the take no prisoners artiste who adopts a “my way or the highway” approach.
Cooper Hoffman is very much everyday affable as the fish out of water who is soon swimming for his dear life.
Daveed Diggs brings attitude to Erika’s stuck-up offsider, while Mason Gooding camps up Zap.
Charli XCX revels in the cold vibe her character permeates, while Chase Sui Wonders engenders empathy as the decent roommate taken advantage of.

I Want Your Sex is also visually striking and that incorporates the cinematography, the sets and the props.
All up, it is quite the intoxicating production that continues to push the envelope.
Rated MA, it scores a 7½ out of 10.
